Country Music’s greatest awards show does not always occur in the same city. The founders are willing to move the city because they realize that country music listeners are found all across America. The casual observer may not care much about where the events are hosted. After all, he just wants to find out if his favorite artists have won any awards. Other long-time country artist may find that they have earned a lifetime achievement award. Branson Missouri hosted them for a few years, but they are more commonly hosted in Nashville, Tennessee.This/tag helps explain it more.

Branson, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee are logical locations. Branson has become the Las Vegas of Country music. The city hosts many shows and features many tourists. It also caters to music fans who are not into country music. Nashville is another logical choice. The city is the home of the Grand Ole Opry, after all. The awards do occasionally veer Westward. Oklahoma City served as the host city one time, and there’s no reason to think that the awards might veer above the Mason Dixon line someday. There are fans of country music living in Yankee territory. They may not want to talk about it very much, however.

The CMA awards have been around for many decades, offering people insight on new country music artists and rewarding those who have been around long enough to have a devoted enough fan-base to allow them to win music awards for their songs. The CMA awards have recognized many great country stars through the years, including Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. These classic artists have a lot of talent and artistic ability and through these awards shows were able to reach out to existing fans and newcomers to their music alike.

Lately, it seems as though the CMA awards have started to chance in how they operate. More and more, the classic, legendary stars seem to be vanishing from these shows to be replaced by more “pop-friendly” acts like Taylor Swift and Faith Hill. The reason for this seems clear when considering how the demographics have shifted over the years. More and more young female fans are vocalizing their opinions when it comes to who they like best and the media always recognizes who the biggest money-makers are.

While in the past, true country artists were big sellers, this is not true anymore. In order to make it big in the country music world, the performer should sing catchy, family friendly songs. the CMA awards team knows this and will continue to rewards these kinds of musicians.

In 2010, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson hit the airwaves with “Don’t You Want to Stay.” A surprising combination, it really hit a cord with fans of both pop and country music, combining two distinctive styles to make magic. Jason Aldean had heard the song and pictured it with someone else to really make a splash. Throwing out the idea of Kelly Clarkson as a part of duet had been pure fantasy. What a surprise for Jason when his people contacted her people and made it happen. Kelly was excited yet anxious at the same time–would she like working with Jason and would he be a good person or would she be disappointed by the reality behind the music persona? The two met to record and there was an instant connection. They hit it off, enjoyed the collaboration immensely, and created a ballad that fans have thrilled to ever since. There have been many live performances since as the two stellar performers make the auditorium tremble with their strong emotions. Kelly and Jason fans are looking forward to more from the unlikely pair in the future. One thing is certain–they had a smash once, sure to set more future records.
